MLB Plans “Lou Gehrig Day” for June 2

Major League Baseball announced yesterday a new permanent addition to their calendar, Lou Gehrig Day, June 2.

The day will be celebrated around the league as a way to honor the Yankees great but more importantly, will raise awareness and funds to help fight ALS.

June 2, 1941 is the date that Gehrig passed away after his 3 year battle with ALS at just 37 years old.
